ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Lead Technician is responsible for all incoming and outgoing vehicle/body audit, rectification & sign off activities for Mini Remastered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead incoming vehicle and painted body audit and inspection activities, along with finished vehicle audit and rectification work from pre-road test checks inclusive to final vehicle sign off
  • Coordinate individual activities with Vehicle Build Technician(s) for all inspection and audit activities
  • Work as part of the Lead Technician Team to support the Production Supervisor with his key responsibilities and production targets
  • Generate accurate and consistent data-driven reports on key quality issues
  • Participate with the team to reduce quality issue re-occurrence, driven by data captured during audits and rectification
  • Ensure all quality alerts and single-point lessons are adhered to within own team
  • Assist with fault finding activities
  • Actively participate in resolving build issues by implementing build process and quality changes into Production
  • Support supplier build issue and quality investigations where required
  • Communicate with the Engineering Team on production issues as they arise
  • Complete essential build sign-off paperwork for individual vehicles where required
  • Actively take part in daily review meetings when required
  • Lead by example ensuring best working practices are carried out on the shop floor to prevent damage to vehicles and associated re-work time
  • Ensure health and safety legislation is adhered to
  • Maintain the image and quality of the facility at all times

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle assembly – ideally niche, handcrafted vehicles
  • Minimum 1-2 years of interior & exterior trim fault finding and rectification procedures
  • Previous experience of audit & inspection activities in the automotive industry is desirable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience of trim & final assembly team leading in a low volume production vehicle environment is desirable
  • Experience of Noise, Vibration and Harshness vehicle assessment is desirable
  • Experience of instigating process improvement methods is desirable

Education / qualifications

  • Good secondary school education
  • Computer literacy an advantage

  • Ability to maintain exceptionally high standards of workmanship
  • Excellent problem solving & resolution skills
  • Able to lead and give direction to a small team of build technicians
  • Confident operating a variety of hand assembly tools and fixtures
  • Flexible attitude is essential
  • Naturally organised
  • Effective communicator
